DiMaria wins Schaumburg park board

Sharon DiMaria will continue to serve on the Schaumburg Park District board, after voters apparently gave her the nod Tuesday.

With 97 percent of the precincts reporting, unofficial tallies gave DiMaria 1,693 votes, or 55 percent, to Jeffery Sanderson's 1,385 votes.

DiMaria, who lives in Roselle, was elected to a two-year term in the race against Sanderson, of Schaumburg.

DiMaria was appointed to the park board nearly a year and a half ago and taught religious education for 15 years. Sanderson has been active in the Schaumburg Athletic Association and the Boy Scouts.
