Pedestrian bridge work

Construction of a pedestrian bridge over Randall Road at Silver Glen Road in St. Charles is scheduled to begin today, March 30, and continue through November. Although most of the work will occur off the road, motorists are asked to watch for equipment entering and leaving the road. Board seeks student talent

Students ages 5 to 18 are invited to enter the Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board's first El Talento de Aurora showcase to take place at the El Dia de Los Ninos Festival on April 25. All performances are welcome, but must be appropriate for a young audience. The Batavia Township assessor's office will have extended office hours from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, April 2 and 9, for property owners who have questions about their assessments. ECC waives job fair fee

Elgin Community College has waived the $275 registration fee for employers participating in the college's job fair Thursday. Peggy Gundrum, director of ECC's career services department, said eliminating the fee encourages more employer participation during a time when they may be thinking twice about what to spend their money on. The job fair will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Spartan Events Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Tidal Wave auction

St. Edward Central Catholic High School in Elgin will hold its 20th annual Tidal Wave Auction/Dinner Dance, with the theme "Fruit of the Vine," Saturday, April 4, at the Stonegate Centre, 2401 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates. Sponsorships and donations are being accepted for this largest fundraiser of the year. Cost is $80 per person, which includes dinner, dancing, silent and live auctions and an open bar. Items up for bid will include Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose autographed basketballs, a wine tasting party, sporting events tickets, several Chicago Bears autographed footballs, restaurant gift certificates, electronic products and more.
