Loew, Jenner, Ruelle and Jette for Cary District 26

Cary Elementary District 26 is stressed financially and awaiting the results of a capital improvements referendum. Candidates for four, 4-year seats agree even if the tax increase is approved, the district's deficit needs careful and swift attention.

Board President Craig Loew's leadership has challenged the administration to think outside the box, and he aims to balance fiscal and educational responsibilities. Chris Jenner has led the charge to trim spending using a zero-based budget model and has pushed for bidding out contracts beyond what's required. Dave Ruelle places priority on academic achievement for every student. Julie Jette, who filled a vacated seat during the current term, is now up to speed in a complicated budgeting process and will continue to contribute.

We endorse Loew, Jenner, Ruelle and Jette. Challenger Chris Spoerl, a CPA, would bring a passion for balancing the budget and we encourage him to continue questioning the board's moves in the coming months and years.
