Lake in the Hills gets road help

Lake in the Hills officials have secured roughly $262,000 from President Obama's stimulus package, money the village will use for road improvements on East Oak Street between Burr Street and Pyott Road, Village President Ed Plaza said. Earlier this month, the McHenry County Council of Mayors received a total of $4.7 million in transportation stimulus funding from the federal government. The council divided it up among 18 McHenry County municipalities, including Cary and Algonquin.

Police run seatbelt sting

The Elgin Police Department Patrol and Traffic Divisions issued 47 citations last Wednesday during a seatbelt enforcement detail on Randall and Foothill roads. From 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. officers also made traffic stops and issued citations for registration, equipment, and insurance violations. Two people were arrested for driving on a suspended license and driving without a license, respectively.

Fox River Country Day School holds carwash

Fox River Country Day School seventh-graders will hold a car wash and bake sale to raise funds for their upcoming class trip to Washington, D.C. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in the front parking lot of Carmina's Mexican Restaurant, 1055 North Randall Road, Elgin. A percentage of that day's sales from Carmina's will also be donated to cover the expense of the trip.
