Caliendo, Daniels, Crady, Petrella for Wood Dale District 7

Seven candidates are vying for four school board seats in Wood Dale Elementary District 7. Christine Caliendo, 40, is a solid choice for our endorsement. In her sixth year, she remains committed, caring and passionate. As a customer service manager she brings the same customer-driven satisfaction goals to her school board role. She is cognizant of fundamental issues and aggressively seeks improvements. She seeks to work collaboratively with the community and staff. We would encourage her to continue to work to improve communication because some parents do not know that there are existing forums in place to present their creative ideas.

With 20 years of service, Merilyn Daniels, 77, brings experience and dedication to this board. She is no less enthusiastic than any newcomer and relishes the idea of serving another term. With her eye on the tax levy and her "results, not excuses" focus, we endorse Daniels for another term.

Incumbent Susan Crady strives for collaboration. Serving since 2001, Crady is energetic, articulate and we recommend her for another term.

Challenger Joseph Petrella, 47, credits Crady for bringing him to the political arena. His background in management, his openness to learn while seeking solutions and his goals to focus on financial accountability make him a good choice.

Challenger Kajanda Love, 39, also is a worthy candidate. While Petrella is more well-versed on some of the issues, Love shows a strong desire to learn and be involved. Either is an excellent choice, but Petrella could hit the ground running, and he is endorsed. We encourage Love to continue her involvement and hope to see her on the ballot again.

Challenger William "Billy" Milano cares about how money is being spent and wants to be involved in the decision-making process. Incumbent Carl Lange chose not to participate in our endorsement process.
