Celebration added:
Want to congratulate the Dundee-Crown basketball team on its stellar season? In addition to a parade of police and fire vehicles that will escort the team bus through the five towns that feed into the high school, starting about 2 p.m. Sunday, which will include a swing-through -but no stop - at Carpenter Park, there will be a rally when the bus reaches the school. That should start between 2:45 and 3 p.m. The mayors, village officials and other local notables will be in attendance. There will be speeches and the team will be introduced.
Open Gym returns for U-46 spring break:
The Hanover Township Youth and Family Services, Elgin Area School District U-46, and Bartlett, Elgin and Streamwood will offer the Open Gym program to provide a safe, supervised environment for youth and teens from noon to 4 p.m. the week of spring break, starting Monday, March 23. Activities offered include arts and crafts, cooking classes, dodgeball, soccer, basketball, science experiments and magic tricks. The spring break schedule for Open Gym is: Monday, March 23 at Eastview Middle School, 321 Oak St., Bartlett; Tuesday, March 24, at Parkwood Elementary School, 2150 Laurel Ave., Hanover Park; Wednesday, March 25, at Tefft Middle School, 1100 Shirley Ave., Streamwood; Thursday, March 26, at Lords Park Elementary School, 323 Waverly Drive, Elgin. Violence counseling offered:
The Community Crisis Center in Elgin provides domestic violence counseling services for northwestern Kane County. A licensed counselor and is available to adult and adolescent females, and services are free. For information or an appointment, call (847) 697-2380.
