Foundation hosts fundraiser

The District 300 Foundation for Educational Excellence is hosting a fundraiser from today through Sunday. During business hours, Funky Things at 2725 Algonquin Road and Buddyz Pizzeria at 2749 Algonquin Road, both in Algonquin, will donate 15 percent of their sales to the foundation. Tidal wave auction

St. Edward Central Catholic High School in Elgin will hold its 20th annual Tidal Wave Auction/Dinner Dance, with the theme "Fruit of the Vine," on April 4 at the Stonegate Centre in Hoffman Estates. Sponsorships and donations are being accepted for this largest fundraiser of the year. More than 300 are expected to attend. Cost is $80 per person, which includes dinner, dancing, silent/live auctions and an open bar. Items up for bid will include Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose autographed basketballs, a wine tasting party, sporting events tickets, several Chicago Bears autographed footballs, restaurant gift certificates, electronic products and more. Hospital has repeat award

Sherman Hospital in Elgin has been named as one of 37 organizations designated as a "Company That Cares" for the second year in a row. A panel of professionals at the Center for Companies That Care doles out the awards in its Honor Roll each year. Some criteria are: establishing and reinforcing ethical standards; supporting a work/life balance for employees; providing a great work environment with competitive compensation; and supporting company involvement in the community.
