Centegra offers cancer screening
March is colorectal cancer awareness month, and Centegra Health System is encouraging Huntley residents to get tested for the disease, which afflicts an estimated 150,000 Americans each year. The health system will distribute free colorectal cancer screening kits from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 16, 17 and 18 and from 4 to 7 p.m. on March 19 at Centegra's Health Bridge Fitness Center at Algonquin and Haligus roads. Spring for seasonal fare at ECC
Lunch service has resumed at Spartan Terrace, the upscale restaurant operated by students of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Institute of Elgin at ECC. The restaurant is now open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 30 inside the Culinary Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The menus, created by students and instructors, are changed once during the semester to give students the opportunity to prepare and serve a variety of dishes. This semester, guests can enjoy lunch fare such as sea scallops and risotto, grilled salmon, steak and frites, and seared tuna salad niçoise. Entree prices range from $7 to $10. Centegra hosts athletes' expo
Centegra Health System is hosting an expo for endurance athletes starting at 6 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Health Bridge Fitness Center at Haligus and Algonquin roads in Huntley. The event is geared toward runners, cyclists and triathletes. The expo includes morning workouts, massages, yoga and demonstrations. Sports dietitian Monique Ryan will talk about nutrition and hydration for endurance athletes. Registration is required for the workouts and the yoga session. Call (815) 444-2900.
