Hospital plan approved
The Lincolnshire village board this week approved the Lincolnshire Animal Hospital's controversial expansion plan. Hospital officials want to enlarge the building and put a staff parking lot behind the facility at 420 Half Day Road. Some area residents opposed the project, saying they didn't want the parking lot so close to their homes.
Polar plunge in Fox Lake
People will jump into Fox Lake on Sunday to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois. The event begins at 1 p.m. at Lake Front Park, 71 Nippersink Blvd. The event is one of 18 law enforcement polar plunges for Special Olympics. More information can be found at soill.org.
District 37 candidate night
Gavin Elementary District 37 will host a candidate night to give residents a chance to meet those running for four open seats on the school board. The event is set for Thursday, March 12, at 7 p.m. in the Gavin South Junior High School library, 25775 W. Highway 134, Ingleside. Candidates will attend the event and have an opportunity to speak and answer questions. The candidates are Steve Moulis, Stan Pasciewicz, Deborah Boness, Roy Gundelach, Chanyn Winfrey and Sherry Florian.
Play for kids scheduled
The Stevenson High School Community Foundation is sponsoring a play for children, "Puss in Boots," on March 8 at the Lincolnshire school. Performances are scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m. Stevenson High students will perform the show. Tickets are $5 at the door.
District 95 announces Egan's successor
Lake Zurich Unit District 95 announced Jodi Wirt as the next assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. She will succeed Mike Egan when he takes over as superintendent July 1. Wirt, currently the associate superintendent for instruction in Naperville District 203, was selected in a national search. District 203, where Wirt has worked for 10 years, has more than twice the number of schools as District 95, Wirt said she hopes that means she will be able to spend more time in the schools.
