Yohn just misses in 3-point Showdown

Katie Yohn's last appearance in a St. Edward girls basketball uniform ended much the same as her last game did -close, but not quite.

Yohn, who led St. Edward to the Class 2A sectional finals before the Green Wave fell to Bishop McNamara, competed in the Class 2A 3-point Showdown Thursday night at Redbird Arena in Normal. After making 9 of 15 in the preliminary round, she got into a shootout for the fourth and final qualifying spot for Saturday's finals but, shooting from the corners, she made just 1 of 10.

"I'm disappointed but it was a good way to go out," said Yohn while watching her future teammates from Bradley take on Illinois State after the 3-point contest. "A couple went in and out (during the prelim round) so I had to go to the shootout and shooting from the corner stinks."

Yohn, the Suburban Catholic Conference Player of the Year and a first team AP All-State selection, finished her career as St. Edward's all-time leading scorer with 1,812 points.
