Algonquin Township GOP scholarships

The Algonquin Township Republicans will award two $500 scholarships to winning applicants who live in Algonquin Township, are a graduating high school senior, have been accepted to a college, university or vocational/technical school, complete and sign an application form that includes answering essay questions by April 30. Child porn trial set

A former St. Charles gymnastics coach is scheduled to stand trial in May on child pornography charges. Vernor Gumila, 40, a former coach at St. Charles Gymnastics Academy and Gymkhana Gymnastics Club & Dance Studio in Hanover Park, was charged in October 2007 with nine counts of child pornography possession. On Thursday, Kane County Judge Timothy Q. Sheldon scheduled Gumila's jury trial for May 18. Gumila, of the 900 block of South Third Street, St. Charles, has pleaded not guilty.
