St. Edward's Yohn named SCC player of year

St. Edward senior Katie Yohn was named the Suburban Catholic Conference girls basketball player of the year, Green Wave coach Michelle Dawson announced Thursday night.

Yohn scored 22 points and had 11 rebounds to lead St. Edward to a 60-44 win over Ottawa Marquette in the championship game of the Class 2A Aurora Christian regional Thursday night.

A 5-foot-10 Bradley recruit, Yohn has now scored 1,764 points in her varsity career and needs just 8 more to tie Beth Hasenmiller's school record. Yohn will get that chance Monday at 8 p.m. when the 17-11 Green Wave take on Chicago Christian (14-6) in the semifinals of the Plano sectional.

Yohn is averaging 22.8 points per game this season.
