Big Brothers hopes your spare time will benefit kids

Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County has announced its 2009 Bowl for Kids' Sake dates. Community Day events will take place on Sundays, March 1 and 8.

Teachers for Kids' Sake will take place on Feb. 24, 27 and March 3. Indian Prairie School in Crystal Lake holds the traveling trophy for most money raised in 2008.

Students for Kids' Sake events will take place at 4 p.m. Friday, March 6, and 5 p.m. Sunday, March 8. McHenry High School West National Honor Society holds the traveling trophy for the most money raised in 2008.

All events will take place at Westlane Bowling Center in Crystal Lake.

Leagues are also invited to bowl during their normal league time during League Week in February.

Bowl for Kids' Sake is planned and implemented by volunteers. Thank you to Dan Dreher of American Community Bank, Roger Krause, Carrie Futchko of The Nielsen Co., Jim Kratochvil of Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Ed Messman of Financial Network, Tom Vaclavek of Campion, Curran, Dunlop, and Lamb, P.C., Diane Susong of Home State Bank, and Carmen Rhodes of Home State Bank.

Presenting sponsors of this year's event include: Bonefish Grill, Crystal Lake Chrysler Jeep, McHenry Kiwanis Club, Northwest Herald, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network - The Kratochvil Group, Sage Products, Star 105 and Wal-Mart. Other sponsors include: Medela, Member Insurance, Minuteman Press - McHenry, Liberty Outdoor Advertising and Metalmaster Roofmaster.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County is a youth mentoring organization that serves children 6-14 years old. Children are matched with carefully screened adult volunteers.
