Girls lacrosse registration
The St. Charles Girls Co-Op High School lacrosse team will hold general registration for all players from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the lower level meeting room at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave. The club fields junior varsity and varsity teams and is comprised of players from St. Charles East and North high schools. Players of all experience levels are welcome. Hear lay apostle Anne
The lay apostle Anne of Ireland will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 Main St. in Batavia. The evening of Eucharistic renewal begins with the rosary at 6:30 p.m. Anne will discuss revelations of Christ regarding his plans for a worldwide renewal, and she will explain the mission of the lay apostolate "Direction for our Times." Clerk holiday closings
The Kane County Clerk's Division of Vital Records and Tax Extension will be closed Thursday for Abraham Lincoln's birthday and Monday for President's Day.
Free health screenings
Free screening for blood pressure, weight and body mass index is available from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays at the Salvation Army, 1710 S. Seventh St., St. Charles. Torres to hold open sessions
U-46 Superintendent Jose Torres is conducting daytime and evening open sessions to meet with community members. Every other month, Torres will hold a noontime "brown bag lunch" for community members from noon to 1 p.m. at district headquarters, 355 E. Chicago St., Elgin. The evening sessions, also every other month, will take place at 6 p.m. at the Elgin High School library, preceding the monthly Citizens' Advisory Council meeting. The next brown bag lunch and evening sessions will be Thursday.
