Fox Valley roundup: South Elgin notches win

South Elgin 54, Glenbard East 52: In a contest that came down to the buzzer, South Elgin (15-7) held on for its fifth straight win with this 54-52 nonconference win over Glenbard East. The Storm shot 6-of-6 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to stay on top. Cortney Kumerow led the Storm attack with 19 points. Becca Smith added 13 points in the win.

Elgin Academy 37, Westminster Christian 26: Trailing 8-3 after the first quarter, Elgin Academy put together a strong final three quarters to get past Westminster Christian 37-26 in nonconference play. Lauren Steimle scored 12 points to lead the Hilltopper offense, and Alyssa Pena added 9 points. Sara Rodgers (9 points) led the Warrior (4-17), while teammate Rachel Doby pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked 4 shots.
