Arrest in $10K ring theft
A Roselle woman was arrested over the weekend on charges she stole a ring valued at more than $10,000 from a Geneva residence. Magdalena Ellman, 27, of the 300 block of Rodenburg Drive, is charged with theft. Geneva police Cmdr. Julie Nash said Ellman stole the ring Friday from a residence she had permission to enter and was arrested after the owner called police. The ring was recovered, Nash said. Ellman faces up to seven years in prison if convicted. She's due in court Feb. 5.
Preteens face charges
Two preteen Naperville boys have been charged with sexually assaulting another boy they attend school with. Authorities said the alleged incident did not occur at the Indian Prairie Unit District 204 middle school. Naperville police said the crime was reported Nov. 12, 2008, a day after it was alleged to have occurred at a residence on the city's south side. A spokesman for the Will County State's Attorney's office said a 12-year-old and an 11-year-old were charged with felony counts of criminal sexual abuse and criminal sexual assault as well as a misdemeanor count of battery against an 11-year-old schoolmate. Because the defendants and victim are juveniles, most details of the case are being withheld. School district officials said "action took place to address and prioritize student safety," but would not elaborate on what the action entailed.
