Crusader football registration set for Saturday
Coach Mike Rolando is seeking parties interested in flag football for the 5-6 year old age group that would be a part of the St. Edward Crusader youth football program.
The Crusader Youth Football is designed for area youth ages 7-14 (non-High school students) and has striper rules to allow kids to play with their own age. Crusader teams play in the highly competitive Illini Youth Football League. The IYFL provides organized youth football for teams in Northeastern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin. The IYFL provides both a competitive Sunday program and an instructional Saturday program. The Crusaders field teams at the Bantam, Lightweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight division levels.
At the 5-6 age level there would likely be two practices a week, and the program would be held more like an ongoing camp than a league with games. The idea is to give kids that age a fun first-time experience with football and have them excited to play the next year. These practices would be instructed by Rolando and members of his high school staff. Interested parties can contact Rolando via e-mail at coachro@stefootball.com.
