Artists sought for Turning Point fundraiser

Turning Point, a McHenry County-based advocate for victims of domestic abuse, is seeking artists to participate in its annual "Gallery in the Garden" art show. The event, scheduled for July 25 and 26 at a private garden in Woodstock, raises money for the agency through artists donating a portion of any sales generated from the show. School registration frozen

The bitter cold has led officials in Cary District 26 to postpone kindergarten registration until Thursday (Jan. 22). Registration will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at both Briargate and Three Oaks schools. For more information, call (847) 639-7788.

Elgin mayor to discuss city's future

The Elgin Woman's Club will begin its first meeting this year at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 3 with a program and luncheon at the Holiday Inn, 495 Airport Road, Elgin. The program will feature a presentation by Elgin Mayor Ed Schock called "Elgin - The Present and the Future." Reservations should be made by Jan. 30 by calling the EWC hotline at (847) 622-3614. Jacobs High school to hold blood drive

Jacobs High School in Algonquin is holding a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 in the auxiliary gym. Parental consent forms must be signed for 16-year-olds. Bring a photo I.D.
