Jim Roberts to lead Lake Park East
Jim Roberts, assistant principal for instructional services at the Lake Park High School West campus, has been named principal of Lake Park East Campus.
He replaces Mary Hawley, who will become District 108's curriculum specialist, working on curriculum renewal and development projects such as No Child Left Behind.
Roberts has been with District 108 since July 1, 2007, and has been responsible for master scheduling, teacher evaluations, student programming, and commencement. Prior, he was social studies department chair at Glenbard North High School for 12 years.
"Jim has been a tremendous asset to our district since he joined us and I look for forward to the leadership he will provide to our staff and students at East Campus," said District 108 Superintendent John Butts.
Free car washes for Schaumburg Twp.
The Clear Vision free car wash program at the Schaumburg Township Highway Department has returned. Available to Schaumburg Township residents, it is held 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays through Feb. 28, at the Township Road and Bridge garage, 1 Illinois Blvd., in Hoffman Estates. There is no charge, but a donation of nonperishable boxed or canned goods will be appreciated.
South Barrington baseball signup now
The South Barrington Park District is accepting registration for its summer baseball leagues for children ages 5-10. Leagues will be formed for T-ball, ages 5-6; Coach Pitch, ages 7-8; and Kid Pitch, ages 9-10, as of April 30. Practices begin in mid-April and games start in May. (847) 381-7515 or sbpd.net.
McKenna to talk to Palatine Twp. GOP
Andy McKenna, chairman of the Illinois Republican Party, will be the guest speaker for the upcoming breakfast meeting of the Palatine Township GOP/TOPPER, at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Vittorio de Roma, Smith Street and Northwest Highway, in Palatine. Two seats will be open on ECC board
Two six-year seats are open for election this April on the Elgin Community College board of trustees. Candidates can pick up petition packets 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday from the ECC board secretary, Room 202B of the Student Resource Center, on the main campus in Elgin, Packets also are available at the Kane, Cook, McHenry, DuPage and DeKalb county clerk offices.
