Crystal Lake South student headed to Air Force Academy:

Kurt Moehling, a student at Crystal Lake South High School, has received an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. A Crystal Lake resident, Moehling is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Club, SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco), and the Gator Link Crew. He also is a member of the Boy Scouts of America and YMCA Youth and Government.

The senior played on the school's varsity football and track teams. He is the son of Steven and Ann Moehling of Crystal Lake.

U-46 school board nomination forms available:

Nominating forms for the April 7 school board election for Elgin Area School District U-46 are now available. Forms may be picked up in the office of the board secretary, Patrick Broncato, at 355 E. Chicago St., in Elgin on business days between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. A school board candidate's petition must be filed in the same office no earlier than 7:30 a.m. Jan. 20 or no later than 5 p.m. Jan. 26. Three seats on the seven-board member board of are up for election.

Centegra offers flu shots:

Centegra Health System is providing $25 flu vaccinations at its immediate care centers. The centers are at 10350 Haligus Road, Huntley, and 360 Station Drive, Crystal Lake. The offices are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Walk-ins are welcome. Call (815) 338-6600.
