Six arrested in Schaumburg car thefts

Schaumburg police arrested six people, including three juveniles, in connection with the theft of four stolen vehicles over the weekend.

Robert E. Little, 17, of the 400 block of South Braintree Lane in Schaumburg; Antoine T. King, 22, of the 1300 block of Kingsbury Drive in Hanover Park; and Deshawn L. King, 20, of the 1100 block of Apple Lane in Elgin, were all charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, police said, as were a 16-year-old Hanover Park boy and a 15-year-old Schaumburg boy.

The incident leading to the arrests began around 8 a.m. Saturday, when a Schaumburg officer saw two people flee the 1100 block of Tyler Drive, where a 2009 Toyota was stuck in a snowbank and a 2006 Mazda was parked nearby.

The officer learned the Toyota had been stolen from Revere Circle in Schaumburg Dec. 8, while the Mazda had been stolen during an armed robbery in Chicago Dec. 18.

As this was happening, Schaumburg police received a call that a 2005 Nissan had been stolen from a driveway on the 1000 block of Howard Drive, where it'd been left running while unlocked. The car was found shortly afterward on the 300 block of West Wise Road, police said.

During the search, a Schaumburg officer spotted a 1995 Lincoln near Wise and Plum Grove roads with occupants who matched the description of the two who'd fled from Tyler Drive.

While pursuing this vehicle as it fled the area, the officer learned that it had been reported stolen from Roselle.

After the vehicle became stuck in a snowbank at Wingate Drive and Berkshire Lane in Schaumburg, the occupants fled on foot. The officer was able to catch and arrest one suspect on the 700 block of Groen Lane.

Officers from Streamwood, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Rolling Meadows and Elk Grove Village and K-9 units from the Cook County Sheriff's police assisted while Schaumburg officers continued a foot pursuit and arrested two more suspects in a field near Summit and Hartford drives.

Detectives identified the other suspects, and another person was arrested by Hanover Park police later that day after a foot chase near Irving Park and Wise roads. A final suspect turned himself in to Schaumburg police Sunday.

At a hearing Monday morning, bond was set at $3,000 for Little and Antoine King and $5,000 for Deshawn King. It was unclear if they'd posted bond by late Monday.

The three juveniles were released to their parents and will be charged in the Cook County Juvenile Court System, police said.
