Northwest roundup: St. Viator wins again

Junior guard Susan Hohenadel scored a game-high 14 points while senior point guard Kelly Hendricks sparked the defense with 11 points and 4 steals as the Lions improved to 9-4 and 2-0 in their own Snowflake tourney after a 59-26 victory over Elmwood Park.

Senior Colleen Nolan (8 points, 8 rebounds), junior Mary Calov (6 rebounds, 4 points) and junior Bridgett Urbanus (9 points off the bench) also gave solid performances for Viator.

Hoffman Estates 71, Prairie Ridge 37: Hoffman Estates (10-2) won its second straight game in the Mundelein tourney as Megan Fischer (16 points, 4 assists), Kelsey Lukowicz (14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists), Carol King (10 points), and Alex Wulbecker (10 points, 3 assists, 2 steals) led the way.

The Hawks enjoyed their best quarter of the season, racking up 30 points in the first eight minutes as Lukowicz came off the bench early and hit a pair of 3-pointers in the period.

Conant 44, Belvidere 41: Ashley Lindeman (16 points), Emma Loos (15) and Lauren Jason (8) were top scorers for Conant, which improved to 2-0 in the Mundelein tourney and 10-2 overall. The Cougars rallied from a 17-8 first quarter deficit.

Libertyville 38, Rolling Meadows 24: Rolling Meadows (2-10) was led by Amanda Gunn (7 points), Paulina Gurbicz (6) and Maddy Urban (5) in its second game of the Mundelein tourney.

Wheeling 78, Deerfield 44: Purdue-bound senior Ashley Wilson collected season-highs of 33 points and 24 rebounds to lead Wheeling (14-0) to its second win in the Warren tourney. The 6-foot forward also had 4 steals, 4 assists and 2 blocked shots.

"Ashley has really been outmuscling people," said Wildcats coach Shelly Wiegel. "It certainly makes it easy for us."

Junior Janelle Cannon added 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks for the state-ranked Wildcats while classmate Bianca Szarfarowicz chipped in 14 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 6 steals.

Grayslake Central 52, Palatine 43: The Pirates (2-10) were led by Katie Scovic (9 points), Lauren Orris (7) and Katie Mnichowicz in their second game of the Warren tournament.
