Briefs: High schools host coaches clinic
The baseball programs at Jacobs and Dundee-Crown high schools are hosting a free coaching clinic for youth baseball managers from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17. District 300 launches tip line
Community Unit District 300 has launched a new safety tip line that allows students, staff, parents and local residents to anonymously report safety issues at District 300 schools. The line can be reached 24 hours a day by calling (847) 551-8477 (TIPS). Messages can be left in English or Spanish. The tip line should only be used to report situations that do not pose an immediate threat to the safety of District 300 students or staff. District 300's safety officer, Gary Chester, will be notified when a message is left on the tip line.
Museum holiday exhibit opening delayed
The McHenry County Historical Society Museum's annual Christmas exhibit, "Mid Twentieth Century Main Street," will open free to the public on Thursday, Dec. 4. Museum hours are 1 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The open hours continue throughout the month with the exception of Dec. 24, 25, 26, and 31. Petitions available for District 158
Nominating petitions are available for residents of Huntley Unit District 158 interested in running for a seat on the school board. Five of seven seats will be up for election in spring 2009: Shawn Green, Tony Quagliano, Kim Skaja, Larry Snow and Mike Skala. Petitions can be picked up from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on business days at the district offices, 650 Academic Dr., Algonquin. Petitions must be filed between 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, and 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26. Call (847) 659-6158.
