Wave, Westminster open with wins

Katie Yohn came straight off the state volleyball tournament over the weekend to score a game-high 15 points and lead the St. Edward girls basketball team to a 70-24 season-opening win over the Serena JV Monday night at the Somonauk tournament. Enza Ranallo and Maddie Kerr each had 14 points for the Green Wave and Kristi Knott added 12.

Westminster 42, Hebron 33: Sarah Rogers scored 13 points and Westminster Christian outscored Hebron 17-5 in the fourth quarter as the Warriors won their season opener at the Rockford Christian tournament.
