Police to monitor Election Day polls

DuPage County law enforcement officials are urging voters to report any irregularities or potential criminal activity on Election Day at area polling places. The DuPage County Election Commission have joined forces with sheriff and state's attorney officials to ensure safety and security are maintained this election. To report problems, call either the election commission at (630) 407-5600 or state's attorney's office at (630) 407-8000.

Local teacher honored

Kathy Redlin, a Marquardt District 15 teacher at G. Stanley Hall in Glendale Heights, recently was named Teacher of the Year by the Wal-Mart store in Bloomingdale. Redlin received a $1,000 grant for G. Stanley Hall, a $100 gift card to buy classroom supplies, and a personalized certificate. The Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year program began in 1995 and so far more than 30,000 teachers nationwide have been honored.

IMSA grad named a trustee

Jay Budzik, founder and chief technology officer of Chicago-based MediaRiver, has been appointed to the Illinois Math and Science Academy board of trustees. He is a 1995 graduate the school. Budzik also has a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in computer science from Northwestern University.
