Forte-Scott is strong voice for community

A theme of "change" has dominated the presidential campaign this year, but what has become evident is there is no place but here in Illinois that "change" is more needed.

I think that people often feel as if the national elections are more important than the local elections. The truth is that those people leading at the local level have more say in your life than those elected to federal offices.

With this said, I would like to tell you about my dear friend, Anita Forte-Scott, who is running for state representative of the 56th District.

Anita has been actively working to better our community for over 20 years. As the founder and president of the Poplar Creek Watershed Planning Coalition, Anita has ensured that the 11 municipalities within its boundaries have access to millions of dollars in federal grants for water quality projects.

Anita also serves the state as a service learning mentor for high school students in more than nine communities. She is dedicated to the education of others about environmental issues and was included in the PBS documentary "Eden's Lost and Found." For all of her efforts to protect and preserve the environment, Anita was named "Illinois Environmental Educator of the Year."

As a friend, Anita Forte-Scott is one of the people I have come to depend on every day. As a leader, her experience working on a wide range of local, state and national issues makes her more than qualified to be your next state representative. She is completely dedicated to our community and the residents of Illinois.

Make your vote count, vote Anita Forte-Scott.
