Downers North upsets WW South

Senior running back Joe Tokarski scored on a 1-yard sneak with 1:39 left in the game and then, given a second chance, the Trojans made a 2-point conversion Friday night to upset No. 2 seed Wheaton Warrenville South 8-7 in the Class 7A playoffs at WWS.

The Trojans (6-4) threw an incomplete pass on the 2-point conversion penalty but the Tigers (8-2) were whistled for a pass interference penalty. Sheppard then ran in the 2-pointer, which was first ruled no good by the line judge but overruled by the umpire.

DGN then recovered its own onside kick to seal the win.

WW South had taken a 7-0 lead with 5:05 left in the third quarter when Julian Banuelos scored on a 1-yard run.
