Dohm, Rams outlast Knights

The crosstown rivalry was a good battle, naturally.

Grayslake Central's girls volleyball team pulled out a 28-26, 25-20 win over Grayslake North on Tuesday night.

Grayslake Central (13-12, 3-6 Fox Valley Fox Division) was led by Tory Dohn, who had 5 kills, 2 aces, 2 blocks and 7 digs. Shannon Curtis and Anna Dlesk added 4 and 3 kills, respectively, while Emily Anderson dished out 8 assists and served 2 aces. Brittany Gibson chipped in 2 aces and 4 digs.

"This was a good wake-up call for regionals for us," Rams coach Jason Janczak said. "We did not play as intensely as we had wanted. A couple of girls played really well, but we need a full team effort."

Grayslake North (4-30, 0-9) was paced by Kaitlyn Klausner's 8 kills and 15 assists (28-of-28 setting). Sarah Walker had 5 kills, while Taylor York and Areli Lopez slammed four apiece.

"This was a very competitive match," Knights coach Nikki Kirchway said. "It was great to see our team fight for every point and not give up. The girls really played their hearts out."

Libertyville d. North Chicago: Emma Mach delivered 5 kills and 3 aces, as the Wildcats won the North Suburban crossover 25-16, 25-8.

Carly Dobryman and Sami Mack added 3 kills apiece, Meggie Buhrman served 2 aces, and Carissa Hughes was 10-of-10 setting with 3 assists for Libertyville (19-11). Besides Buhrman and Mach, Sarah Caren and Jenny Hamlin also served well.

Vernon Hills d. Mundelein: Rachael Ramsey had 6 kills and 4 blocks for the Cougars in their 26-24, 25-21 win in a North Suburban crossover.

Sarah Milligan contributed 5 kills and 4 aces for Vernon Hills (18-10-1), which also received 3 kills and 7 assists from Anna Christensen, 9 assists and 2 aces from Alana Coy and 12 digs from Amy Choi.

Mundelein (9-20) got 3 kills from Brittany Jones, 7 assists from Megan Barron (59-of-59 setting) and 18 digs from Alysa Fritz.

Lake Zurich d. Antioch: Amber Miehlke and Melissa Miehlke had 4 and 3 kills, respectively, as the Bears won the North Suburban crossover 25-14, 25-16.

Brittany Murawski added 4 blocks for Lake Zurich (26-3). Melissa Miehlke also served 3 aces. Lydia Bauer lofted 11 assists.

Zion-Benton d. Lakes: The Eagles lost the North Suburban crossover 25-22, 25-19.

Mandy Fischer had 5 blocks and 3 kills for Lakes (9-16), while Steffanie Fisher had 3 kills and 4 blocks.

Lake Forest d. Grant: Morgan Liles and Becca McMullin each recorded 3 kills for the Bulldogs in their North Suburban crossover loss.

Warren d. Round Lake: The Blue Devils responded with a 25-17, 19-25, 25-12 win on senior night.

Warren's contributors included Shelby Myers (3 aces, 7 digs, 5 kills, 4 blocks); senior Sarah Myles (2 aces, 19 digs, 8 kills, 2 blocks); senior Emily Mohapp (4 aces, 8 digs, 2 kills); Emily Rediger (7 digs, 8 kills, 4 blocks); senior Lindsay Goad (27 assists); and senior Laura Scheck (8 digs, 3 kills).
