Briefs: District 214 approves contract
The Northwest Suburban High School District 214 board and the Educational Support Personnel Association have approved a five-year contract that provides a 3.5 percent salary increase this school year, retroactive to July 1. The salary increases for the next four years will be based on the Consumer Price Index. Employees' contribution to insurance will be a percentage of their salary based on increases in actual claims and administration costs. Personal days were increased to four from three. "By tying salaries to the Consumer Price Index and having employees contribute a greater share for their insurance benefits, the contract is good for everyone involved," Randy Hawley, negotiations team member and associate superintendent for human resources, said in a prepared release. The contract won 98 percent approval from union members, union President Trish Peikoff said in the statement.
