Briefs: Check IDs of FEMA workers
The federal government has declared the Northwest suburban area a federal disaster area due to the flooding that took place Sept. 13 and 14. As a result, representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be visiting the area during the next few weeks to inspect and assess homes that were damaged. All FEMA personnel will be carrying proper credentials and will notify the police departments in the areas they are working. Schaumburg police are reminding all area residents to request to see photo identification from anybody claiming to represent a governmental agency or utility company that is requesting access to their homes. Residents are also reminded that most reputable contractors do no solicit business going door-to-door.
