Preview: Glenbard South at Geneva
Western Sun Conference Glenbard South (2-1, 1-0) Geneva (3-0, 1-0)
Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.
Last year: Geneva 17, Glenbard South 0
Last week: Glenbard South 32, Batavia 21; Geneva 41, Yorkville 6
Outlook: Five games remain after tonight, but Glenbard South likely will be through with the toughest part of its schedule after this showdown.
The Raiders would love to get a win and claim an early inside track to the Western Sun title, although recent history is on Geneva's side.
After Glenbard South won six straight years, the Vikings have won the last four meetings.
The matchup to watch is Glenbard South's potent offense butting heads against Geneva's strong defense.
On the one side you've got Raiders quarterback Kevin Marshall, who rushed for 200 yards and 3 TDs last week, along with running back Curtis Ford, who has two straight 100-yard rushing games, and versatile junior Trace Wanless. On the other side there's a Geneva defense that's allowed only 20 points this season.
The obvious key for Glenbard South's defense is finding a way to slow down Geneva running back Michael Ratay, who rushed for 270 yards last week and already has 13 TDs.
