Carpentersville school on alert after threats
Perry Elementary School will have beefed-up security Monday after the Carpentersville school received two anonymous telephone calls threatening violence, Community Unit District 300 announced Saturday.
District officials said they have decided to keep the school open after discussing the matter with police.
The threats were made on the answering machines of the elementary school and the Boys and Girls Club, according to district.
One of the threats specifically referenced Sept. 15, the district said.
Police will be on hand at the school Monday, and exterior doors will be locked, according to the district.
"We are doing everything possible to trace down the perpetrator of these phone calls," District 300 Associate Superintendent David Scarpino said in a message sent to parents.
