Scouting: Batavia @ Glenbard S.

Batavia (1-1, 0-0) at Glenbard South (1-1, 0-0)

Western Sun Conference

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

Last week: Batavia 43, West Chicago 20; Glenbard South 34, Fenton 7.

Last year: Batavia 13, Glenbard South 6.

Outlook: The last time the Raiders beat Batavia was in 2002 - a 17-14 double-overtime game. Tonight the Raiders aim to break that five-game losing streak. The defensive focus turns to Batavia's passing game and quarterback Jordan Coffey. He threw for 300 yards and 4 touchdowns in last week's win, with 180 yards and all 4 scores going to Erich Zeddies. Quarterback pressure by the Raiders is critical, starting with linebacker Austin Teitsma and lineman Billy Trakas. Last week Glenbard South broke out on the ground with running back Curtis Ford, who rushed for 150 yards, including an 85-yard touchdown. More big plays from two-way standout Nick Slezak, who's returned a kick for a touchdown, would be ideal. So would a boost to the Raiders' passing game. A win would bring perfect momentum heading into next week against Geneva.
