Man accused in sex attack on child

Robert F. Sinsun, 41, of Beach Park, was held Thursday in the Lake County jail in Waukegan in lieu of $500,000 following accusations he sexually abused a now-5-year-old girl.

Lake County sheriff's police said they arrested Sinsun when a two-week investigation ended Wednesday. Sinsun is accused of abusing the girl from May 2007 to July. Police said Sinsun knows the child's mother.

Authorities said the mom came forward Aug. 18 with the accusations about Sinsun. Investigators then spoke to a family friend who had obtained information from the child.

Sinsun was charged with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, one count of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
