Beer and wine tasting:

The Tri-Town Toast beer and wine tasting will be held Saturday to benefit the Lombard, Oakbrook Terrace, Villa Park Tri-Town YMCA. The event, which will be held from noon to 7 p.m., will be held at 20 West Wine and Spirits, 20 W. St. Charles Road, in Lombard. Wristbands are $10. Railroad safety fundraiser:

The first Gears for T.E.A.R.S. charity biker bash will be held Saturday to help raise money for railroad safety education. A poker run and scavenger hunt will start at 10 a.m. at Boondocks, 1200 W. Hawthorne Lane, in West Chicago and continue to select locations in DuPage County. A party that will include food, bands and an auction will start at 3 p.m. at Boondocks. Tickets cost $25 per person. Proceeds will benefit T.E.A.R.S., Targeting Education Awareness and Railroad Safety, a not-for-profit organization started by Lombard resident Ray Zukowski after his daughter Kristen Bowen was killed by a train in 2006. Winfield Town Center meeting:

The village of Winfield will host a community workshop to present alternative development concepts for its Town Center plan and gain resident feedback. The workshop will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 13 at village hall, 27W465 Jewell Road. The concepts to be presented are based on a real estate market analysis of the Town Center and represent the development potential and recommendations gathered during previous community meetings. The village will complete its Town Center development study within the next few months, which will help Winfield reach its goal of creating a strong mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly, transit-supportive environment in the Town Center area.
