Fire damages Bloomingdale home

Bloomingdale firefighters battled a residential fire for about two hours Thursday evening.

About 5:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire at a single-family ranch house in the 100 block of Greenway Drive in Bloomingdale, Batt. Chief Scott Koehn said.

He said the homeowner told firefighters on the scene the fire had started in the laundry room and spread to the first floor.

He said the homeowner got everyone out of the house when the fire started, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters were putting out the flames until 7:30 p.m.

He said there was extensive damage to the home, mostly from the heavy smoke, but he did not have a damage estimate available. However, he said, the family was displaced by the fire.

He added the fire remains under investigation.

Carol Stream, Glendale Heights and Addison fire departments assisted Bloomingdale in fighting the fire.
