New administrators named at U-46

Several new administrators will shape testing, math and science and early childhood education across Elgin-area schools this year.

Elgin Area School District U-46 on Wednesday announced new directors for each of these three areas.

Lynn Glaser will be the district's new director of assessment.

Glaser formerly served as principal of Hilltop Elementary School in Elgin and will be replaced by longtime district teacher Dena Farrell.

Glaser has helped develop the district's curriculum and trained teachers in how to use testing to improve instruction.

Doug Moeller, formerly Elgin High School's dean of students, was named the district's new coordinator of math and science.

Moeller has worked as an actuary, a math teacher at Gifford Street High School and an instructor in high-level math at Elgin Community College.

Julie Kallenbach is the district's new director of early childhood education.

Kallenbach most recently served as the supervisor of the Illinois Park Center for Early Learning, which offers preschool and full-day kindergarten to Elgin-area students.

Margaret Ondera will take over from Kallenbach as supervisor of the early learning center in Elgin.

Ondera has been an early childhood teacher across District U-46 as well as in Keeneyville Elementary District 20.
