District 4 staff changes:

Several staff members in Addison Elementary District 4 will take on new roles this fall. Bob Pape, currently an assistant principal at Indian Trail Junior High, will serve as principal of Army Trail School. He replaces Nicole Conaway who is moving to St. Louis with her family. Pape began his tenure in District 4 in 2005 when he was hired as assistant principal at Army Trail School. Craig Bennett, currently a dean at Indian Trail, will serve as assistant principal at the junior high. Bennett began teaching in District 4 as a social science teacher in 2001. Carolyn Young, who also taught social science at Indian Trail, will become dean of students. Young has been with District 4 since 2003 and served as acting dean during spring semester.

Dist. 53 student honors:

Five students from Butler School District 53 in Oak Brook earned honors from the Center for Talent Development at Northwestern University for scoring in the top 1 percent or 2 percent on college entrance exams or above-grade-level tests. The students were identified as "gifted" through the Midwest Academic Talent Search by taking exams such as EXPLORE, ACT and SAT. The students are: Neil Chen, fifth grade, second place in Special Medal Recipients for his score on EXPLORE; Neil Chen, Steven Chun and Priya Pillai, fifth grade, medal recipients for scores on EXPLORE; and Rajiv Deshpande, seventh grade, second place in special medal recipient for his ACT math score.

Christmas trees in August:

It might seem a wee bit early for the yule spirit, but Lisle Lions Club is advising organizations or homeowners who want Christmas trees from 12 to 20 feet high to pre-order them now. Orders must be received before Aug. 15. Top-grade Fraser firs cost $18 a foot and top-grade balsam firs are $12 a foot. Checks should be made payable to Lisle Lions Club for the full amount and include the name of the purchasing organization and phone number. Send checks to: Lisle Lions Club, P.O. Box 481, Lisle, IL 60532. Trees will be ready for pickup on Nov. 26 or later at the Lions Club lot next to Del Debbio's restaurant, 908 Ogden Ave. For details, call (630) 985-8737 or (630) 222-7020.
