• CDH has been reaccredited as a Chest Pain Center, a center with proven protocols to help physicians identify the early stages of a heart attack that might otherwise go undiagnosed. CDH is one of only five in the Chicago area and the 31st nationwide to be accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
• CDH was named among the top five percent in the nation for patient safety and named at 2008 Distinguished Hospital for Patient Safety by an independent study by HealthGrades, the nation's leading health care ratings company. CDH is one of only three Illinois hospitals to receive this distinction for three consecutive years from 2006-08. For details, visit www.healthgrades.com.
• Central DuPage Hospital's Auxiliary recently awarded $35,000 in scholarships to 18 local high school, college and medical school students interested in pursuing a career in health care. Scholarships were awarded to students attending a college, university, graduate or medical school program in the fall of 2008. Applicants were required to document academic excellence, plan to pursue a career in health care and live within Central DuPage Hospital's service area.
Area high school graduates awarded scholarships include Rhythm Gandhi, Kelsey Gossen, Krishna Patel, Christina Rojas and Vivian Yang.
Area college students are Jason Carroll, Nishant Goyal, Jennifer Heise, Esther Kim, Michelle Koch, Valerie Lambrecht, Megan Mazur, Stacy Pacana, Justine Rehak, Jessica Remke, Cassandra Rico, David Ryan and Joshua Williams,
Since its inception in 1961, the auxiliary has raised and donated almost $10 million to Central DuPage Hospital. The group provides fundraising, public awareness and community service programs for CDH. Membership is open to any adult who is interested in actively supporting Central DuPage Hospital.
