Dist. 203 leaders to get 3.8 percent raises

Naperville Unit District 203 is increasing most administrator salaries by 3.8 percent this year as part of its newly approved budget.

"It's close to last year's and it's basically what the teachers got," Superintendent Alan Leis said. "I think we need to keep some equity in terms of teachers so people will be willing to move from teacher to administrator and not lose money in the process."

The board will vote on a salary increase for Leis when it meets Aug. 18.

Overall expenses for the district total $234.4 million this year, which is an increase of 13.3 percent due, in large part, to $20.6 million in facility projects. The district's operating budget increased by 2.82 percent.

Taxpayers will see an average of a 2.5 percent increase in property taxes under this budget.
