Schaumburg Twp. library collecting food

Thanks so much for focusing on hunger in our neighborhoods. For most of us, if we don't know hungry people we don't think about them. For us they don't exist.

In light of that, the Schaumburg Township District Library is devoting the month of August for our patrons to bring a nonperishable food item instead of paying their fines. This is something we've done for years at holiday time, but we, too, have come to realize that people who are hungry aren't hungry only at holiday time.

I hope other libraries would follow suit. I also hope that when doing their shopping, people will pick up an extra item or two for their local food pantry. It adds up.
