Summer Food Drive in South Elgin

South Elgin Chiropractic/Moore Health is holding a Summer Food Drive on July 30 for the South Elgin Food Pantry. Barbecue returns to Huntley church

Faye's barbecue returns at Huntley's First Congregational Church annual Faye's Pork Chop Barbecue . The summer fare will be available from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, with a dining tent and live entertainment on the grassy lot at the corner of Main and Myrtle streets.

The menu includes a full dinner of Faye's barbecued pork chops or chicken, plus beverage, and dessert. Carry-outs are available; advance tickets are $12, on sale at the church office. Walk-in tickets will be $13 until the food is sold out. Call (847) 669-3691.

Pet adoption fair in Crystal Lake

Sunrise Assisted Living of Crystal Lake will host a pet adoption fair from 1:15 to 3 p.m. July 19. The Young at Heart Pet Rescue will bring many lovable dogs that are available for adoption.

Face painting will be offered for children. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited to come see the pets and have some fun.

Sunrise Assisted Living of Crystal Lake is at 751 E. Terra Cotta Ave. , Route 176, one-quarter mile west of Route 31, in Crystal Lake.
