Briefs: Oak Brook suits rejected

Oak Brook recently logged two victories in federal court where it was facing two separate lawsuits. In the first case, former police officer Randy Mucha sued the village, believing he was improperly fired last year. Mucha sought administrative review of his dismissal and claimed his civil rights had been violated. Both charges were dismissed. Related charges about defamation and invasion of privacy were also dismissed. In the second case, Closed Circuit Innovations sued the village for discrimination, interference with business relationships and denial of a fair opportunity to bid on the village's next generation of squad car cameras. All those claims were dismissed.

Perfect SAT recorded

Glenbard East High School student Benjana "Annie" Guraziu of Lombard scored a perfect 2400 on her SAT exam. Only a few Illinois students claim that distinction annually.

The Energy Star bulbs, equivalent to 60-watt incandescent bulbs, are expected to last 10,000 hours, fit most light fixtures and use about 60 percent less energy than standard incandescent bulbs. The village received 5,000 of the energy-saving bulbs for residents to use in their homes through a grant from the Northern Illinois Energy Project and Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance. The bulbs are available to residents with a limit of three per household while supplies last. For details, visit http://www.villageoflisle.org.
