Traffic enforcement results
Aurora police issued 105 tickets as a result of two traffic enforcement campaigns last week on the city's east side. The traffic details were conducted to cut down on accidents, police said. Aside from the 105 tickets, eight motorists were given written warnings, four were warned verbally and three people were arrested. Two of the arrested drivers were held on traffic-related charges, but the third was charged with a narcotics offense. The campaigns are part of a yearlong effort to reduce accidents by 5 percent. The department reported that crashes are actually up 1 percent for the year, despite the heightened patrols.
District 4 staff changes
Students attending schools in Addison Elementary District 4 will see some new faces next fall, since the school board approved several staff changes this spring. Bennett began teaching in District 4 as a social science teacher in 2001. In addition, Carolyn Young, who also taught social science at Indian Trail, was appointed to serve as dean of students. Young has been with District 4 since 2003 and has served as acting dean during the spring semester of the 2007-08 school year.
