Get a start on fest season this weekend

Can't wait for festival season? Here are a few minifests taking place this weekend to tide you over:

Vernon Hills Springfest: 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Metra station at 75 Route 45, Vernon Hills. The Associates perform from 3 to 7 p.m., followed by Band on the Run (a Paul McCartney and Wings tribute band) from 8 to 10 p.m. Also includes crafts, a moon walk and other activities. (847) 367-3700.

Civil War Days: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 523 S. Webster St., Naperville. Actors playing historical figures discuss various battles, which are re-created at 2:30 p.m. each day. $6.50 to $9. (630) 420-6010 or napersettlement.org.

40th Annual Fair Diddley: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Woodstock Square, Van Buren and Benton streets, Woodstock. The juried craft show features more than 300 artists. Sponsored by the Mental Health Resource League for McHenry County. (815) 385-5745 or mhrl.org.

Lilac Parade: The conclusion of Lombard's annual Lilac Festival steps off at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Main and Wilson streets, travels north on Main to Maple Street and continues east on Maple. (630) 415-2079 or lombardparks.com.
