He wanted others to have a nice day
I am a server at a restaurant in Hoffman Estates. Almost a month ago a gentleman, who was clearly having a bad day, came in alone for dinner. When signing the credit card slip he asked his server how many of us were on the floor that night. He then handed the slip back to his server with a tip of $1,000.
She asked if he was serious and his reply was that he had an awful day and wanted to make sure others would have a good one. She was asked by him to share it with the rest of us.
We want to thank him for his successful attempt of paying it forward. Instead of leaving a "bad mood" tip of 8 percent, he was incredibly selfless and went the other way. We all appreciated it greatly and I still smile when I think of his generosity.
