Baseball

Youth competition: Roselle Rampage will host a free Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for area youth from 4 to 6:30 p.m. May 4 at Alexian Field, home of the Schaumburg Flyers. The program is free.

Competitors are divided into four age divisions: 7 and 8, 9 and 10, 11 and 12, 13 and 14. They have a chance to advance through four levels of competition, including team championships at major league ballparks and the national finals at the 2008 MLB All-Star Game.

The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, along with the all-around champion in each age group at the local competition will be awarded and advance to the sectional.

Cheerleading

Team openings: The CCA Titans competitive all-star cheerleading teams are open for the 2008-09 season to all girls entering kindergarten through 12th grade. Previous experience is welcome, but not required. The Titans maintain a no-cut policy for girls entering kindergarten through ninth grade, so everyone in that age group will be placed on a team.

Football

Summer camps: Chicago Bears Youth Football Camps will be offered in June and July. The non-contact day camps are for players ages 6-14. Players will be taught athletic, football and life skills. The camp will be taught by professional educators, along with former Chicago Bears Mickey Pruitt, Kris Haines and Wendell Davis.

• June 23 to 27 -- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Barbara Rose School, 61 W. Penny Road, Barrington.

• June 23 to 27 -- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Deerpath Middle School, 95 W. Deerpath Road, Lake Forest.

• July 7 to 11 -- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Campanelli YMCA, 300 W. Wise Road, Schaumburg.

• July 14 to 18 -- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Poe School, 2800 N. Highland Ave., Arlington Heights.

• July 14 to 18 -- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Laura B. Sprague School, 2425 Riverwoods Drive, Lincolnshire.

• July 21 to 25 -- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Barbara Rose School, 61 W. Penny Road, Barrington.

• July 21 to 25 -- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Highland School, 310 W. Rockland Road, Libertyville.

First-aid trained staff and an athletic trainer will be on hand at all camps.

Hockey

Adult league: The Kenosha Adult Hockey Club, an adult no-check league, is open to teams and individual players who would like to participate in men's and women's summer hockey leagues. KAHC is a USA Hockey-affiliated league for players 18 and older. The summer league offers a 12-game schedule with all games on Sundays (except Mother's Day, Memorial Day weekend, and Independence Day weekend).

In addition to men's elite, competitive and recreational divisions, KAHC is offering a separate women's league for the first time. A two-referee system is used, and all officials are USA Hockey certified. Summer play begins April 27 and continues through Aug. 3. Discounts for early payment of ice fees are available. Youth camp: The Glacier Ice Rink in Vernon Hills will host a Chicago Blackhawks Youth Hockey Dream Camp from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 21 through 25 for boys and girls ages 6 to 14 years old. Dream Camps provide comprehensive hockey instruction and fitness training. Each program maintains 5-to-1 student-to-instructor, on-ice teaching ratio.

Tennis

Summer leagues: Celeste Pregracke of the Court Aces will run summer tennis leagues again this year. The singles leagues have a flexible schedule and can be played anytime during the week. The doubles play at a set time Wednesdays or Thursdays at HeatherRidge depending on the level of play. Partners will be provided, or participants may bring their own. Play will start the middle of May and end the first week of August. A party and round robin end the season. The entry deadline is May 1. For information, call Celeste at (847) 662-5038.
