Cops to take on firefighters in annual charity hockey game

Illinois police officers will take on firefighters from Lake County in the annual "Guns & Hoses" charity hockey game Saturday.

This year's contest will start with the puck dropping at 2:45 p.m. and will pit "Skatin' Bacon" against the Lake County Firefighters at the All State Arena in Rosemont before the Chicago Wolves game.

Police officers and firefighters are playing to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Their goal this year is to raise more than $10,000.

A portion of every ticket sold by a police officer or firefighter will go directly to the charity, and the purchase of a Guns & Hoses ticket also gives the bearer admission to the Wolves game that evening.

A raffle will be held during the game, with all proceeds going directly to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

"Skatin' Bacon" is a hockey team made up of police officers from state, county and suburban law enforcement agencies such as the Illinois Conservation Police, Cook County Sheriff's Office, DuPage County Sheriff's Office, Lisle Police Department, Franklin Park Police Department, Bolingbrook Police Department, Mount Prospect Police Department, Hanover Park Police Department, Burr Ridge Police Department, Solomon Police Department, Aurora Police Department, Woodridge Police Department, Downers Grove Police Department and Lombard Police Department.
