Briefs: Cardamone verdict upheld
An appeals court has denied former gymnastics coach Michael Cardamone's request for a new trial in relation to his 2006 witness harassment conviction. That conviction came about a month after he was found guilty of sexually abusing girls under his tutelage at a family owned gymnastics school in Aurora. DuPage County State's Attorney Joseph Birkett said Cardamone made a false emergency call to report traffic infractions of a witness and family member of a child in the sexual abuse case against him. He was sentenced to three years in prison for the false report and 20 years for the sexual abuse conviction.
