John G. Spears was named library manager of the 95th Street Library, the largest of the three Naperville Public Libraries. Spears previously served as manager of community branches and adult programming for the St. Charles City-County Library District.

The National Retail Federation named John L. Morris, Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Boats founder, Retail Innovator of the Year.

Dr. John Affronti joined Loyola University Health System as a professor in the division of gastroenterology, Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood.

Mid-America Real Estate Corp. promoted Andy Bulson of Inverness from vice president to senior vice president of its suburban tenant representation team, and Ben Wineman of Glencoe from vice president to senior vice president of its investment sales group.

Nancy Kesselman was named director of early childhood services of JCC at Am Shalom, Glencoe.

Commercial real estate veteran Philip E. Elworth joined Mid-America Development Partners, Oak Brook, in the newly created position of chief financial officer.

Professional geologist Thomas M. Mangan joined Atwell-Hicks, Naperville, as a senior project manager for the environmental services team. He previously served as a senior project manager at Marlin Environmental Inc., St. Charles.

Naperville-based Velocent Systems appointed Mark Mcllvane president and chief operating officer, and Julien Vernhiet regional vice president of the EMEA region.

Dr. John Minalt of Bloomingdale was recognized as an associate fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. To qualify, Minalt completed 300 hours of post-doctoral instruction in implant dentistry, performed implant cases and passed the academy's associate fellow examination.

Retired Brig. Gen. John Howard, business development manager for CDW Governments Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Corp., Vernon Hills, was appointed to the national board of directors for Operation Homefront and will serve as a member of its policy committee.

LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, Geneva, appointed Jillian Smallwood program director. She is responsible for the planning, development, implementation and oversight of all programs and services.

William Templin of Geneva, a partner with Dahlquist and Lutzow Architects Ltd., Elgin and Hinsdale, was designated a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accredited professional by the United States Green Building Council. Additionally, Arturo Benitez of Skokie has joined Dahlquist and Lutzow as a job captain.

Rolling Meadows-based Northrop Grumman Corp. appointed Jeffrey Q. Palombo senior vice president and general manager of its newly created land forces division.
